COIMBATORE: A day prior to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Tamil Nadu, AIADMK MLA from Sulur R Kanagaraj has batted for an alliance with BJP in the state on Sunday.
This is the second one time that the MLA is making a remark supporting an alliance between AIADMK and BJP. The statement comes in spite of senior leaders of the ruling birthday celebration keeping up a stoic silence on criticisms about growing affect of BJP over AIADMK since Jayalalithaa's demise.
The BJP in the meantime reacted to Kanagaraj's remark announcing that this used to be a sign of the growing stature of the saffron birthday celebration in Tamil Nadu.
Kanagaraj made the remark throughout a visit to a government college where a rangoli competiton used to be held to mark start centenary celebrations of late chief minister M G Ramachandran. The outspoken MLA discovered a rangoli depicting a complete bloomed lotus with two leaves in its stalk and started praising it.
"The rangoli displays that public want lotus and two leaves to be together,'' he stated and declared that the primary prize would go to that rangoli.
"What we politicians think is immaterial. But folks want an alliance between two leaves and lotus,'' Kanagaraj stated.
"The thought of such a rangoli has happened to them naturally reflecting their want,'' he stated.
Reacting to the comments, A P Muruganandham, All India vice-president of BJP formative years wing stated that anyone can join fingers with BJP, but the only situation is they must not be tainted by way of corruption.
"The comments by way of AIADMK chief is an explanation of BJP's expansion in Tamil Nadu. We have grown to a stature where no person can come up with the money for to forget about BJP,'' he stated.
Another AIADMK MLA from the area, alternatively, chose to downplay the remark by way of Kanagaraj. "All people want to be certain that excellent terms with BJP. But alliance talks have not arise to this point,'' he stated.
