Deliberate act by BJP to tarnish Kulkarni’s image: Siddaramaiah

Hubballi: Chief minister Siddaramaiah have shyed away from talking to journalists in Hubballi on Monday, but hours later broke his silence over accusations of Vinay Kulkarni's involvement in a homicide case, declaring in Naragund that the BJP is intentionally looking to tarnish the minister's symbol, keeping the upcoming elections in mind.

"Do the BJP leaders have any evidence? They are making baseless allegations. BJP state chief B S Yeddyurappa is conspiring against Kulkarni as the minister is taking the lead in the struggle to accord a separate religion status to Lingayats. The BJP leaders are also bringing the name of Kempaiah, adviser to the home minister, into the case. This is ridiculous," he told journalists.

Earlier, Siddaramaiah landed at Hubballi airport and boarded a helicopter to Gadag with out talking to journalists. He reportedly did so for the second one time in a week to steer clear of questions over the alleged involvement of mines and geology minister Kulkarni within the homicide case of Dharwad zilla panchayat member Yogeshgouda.

On Monday, Siddaramaiah reportedly sent power minister D Ok Shivakumar to talk to journalists, choosing to stay throughout the Hubballi airport terminal. On earlier events, the CM would land at Hubballi airport and cope with journalists sooner than boarding the helicopter to reach his destination. On Saturday too, Siddaramaiah landed at the airport and boarded a chopper immediately to Vijayapura with out talking to journalists.

No truth in allegations: DKS

Shivakumar too slammed the BJP, terming the allegations against Kulkarni false. "BJP leaders, including leader of opposition Jagadish Shettar, had raised the matter in the legislative session. The government looked into the matter seriously. However, we found that there is no truth in the allegations of the BJP leaders. It is completely a political allegation. Kulkarni is not involved in the case. The BJP leaders are levelling allegations against both ministers George and Kulkarni just for gaining political mileage," he said.

Shivakumar said that the BJP has followed hit-and-run techniques because it can't to find any loophole within the management.
