Gunmen attack Shia imambargah in Pak, kill 2 people

ISLAMABAD: Unidentified, motorcycle-borne gunmen on Wednesday opened hearth out of doors a Shia imambargah here, killing at least two other people and injuring 3 others, in a unprecedented assault in Pakistan's capital.

The two gunmen fled after carrying out the assault in the I-8 locality of town, police mentioned.

One particular person died at the spot whilst one of the injured succumbed to his wounds, taking the loss of life toll to two, Geo TV reported.

Emergency products and services shifted the injured to PIMS health center and police have began an investigation into the incident, it mentioned.


Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, leader of Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen, expressed sorrow over the incident, announcing the Islamabad administration has failed to stop the crime in the capital.


He mentioned they've foiled such conspiracies up to now and can proceed to take action.


A spokesman for Tehreek-e-Nifaz-e-Fiqh- Jafaria (TNFJ) additionally denounced the incident, announcing there's no sectarian divide in the nation.


No group has claimed accountability for the assault but banned extremist group Lashker-e-Jhangvi has claimed such assaults on minority Shias and their mosques up to now.
