Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar drew parallels between the profession of a doctor and a beauty queen as she addressed media in the capital the day past. "They both want to make the world better for everyone," she mentioned.

Enumerating her intent to result in social exchange, the 20-year-old pageant winner mentioned she will use the Miss World platform to spread consciousness about menstrual hygiene in India. "My project for menstrual hygiene is about empowering girls." A lady's menstrual cycle should now not obstruct her confidence, she added.

The successful answer that sealed Manushi's destiny on the Miss World 2017 pageant was once driven by way of her love for her mother Dr Neelam Chhillar. "My mother is my first role model. We have lived every dream together. The way she has balanced everything in life makes me want to be like her," she mentioned on the convention.

The 6th Indian to win the blue jade crown after Reita Faria, Aishwarya Rai, Diana Hayden, Yukta Mookhey and Priyanka Chopra, Manushi seems to be as much as the first Miss World 1966 for inspiration. "I've always looked up to Dr Reita Faria, the first Asian to win the Miss World crown. Despite many offers from the glamour industry, she followed her passion and went on to become a gynaecologist."

With everyone acknowledging the big win, Manushi's elder sister Dewangana and younger brother Dalmitra, who had been also present along with her in Delhi, shared their pleasure and pride with The Times of India and spoke about Manushi's adventure to victory. "She works with great determination and knows how to balance things," mentioned Dewangana.
