Kiran Bedi not to use siren on visit to Hubballi

Hubballi: Residents of the twin towns, annoyed by means of sirens on pilot and escort cars of ministers and other VVIPs, won't pay attention any pressing wails when Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi can pay a consult with on Friday. Bedi asked the government concerned to not use a siren either on her pilot or escort cars.

Interestingly, Bedi is flying to the state with common passengers as a substitute of taking a unique flight, a privilege which most VIPs, including the manager minister, enjoy. It may be recalled that it used to be Bedi who banned using sirens on VIP cars in Puducherry instantly after taking rate as Lt Governor last 12 months. The move used to be backed by Puducherry chief minister V Narayanasamy.

Raj Nivas, the respectable place of abode of the Lt Governor of Puducherry, requested the government in Karnataka to not use the siren on her pilot and escort cars all over Bedi's consult with, Hubballi-Dharwad police commissioner M N Nagaraj advised TOI.

The former supercop is participating in Seva Sangram 2017, organized by Rashtriya Sewa Bharati, at Gokul Garden at 11.30am Friday. She will depart from Chennai for Belagavi by a passenger flight, as a substitute of a unique flight. She will depart for Bengaluru from Hubballi the same day on some other passenger aircraft. From Bengaluru, she's going to fly to Mumbai, once more on a normal flight.

Civic rights activist M C Sindhur said Bedi's gesture marks a welcome alternate. "It's the common man's thinking. It is good that such a high-profile person refuses to use the privilege. I think our politicians should also show such a gesture," he said.

It may be recalled that the Supreme Court banned using purple beacons atop VIP cars. However, there is not any ban on using sirens on pilot or escort cars.
