Nod to funds for Farate’s memorial

Pune: The development of a memorial for Indian Army gunner Saurabh Farate may get started quickly. The standing committee of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Tuesday approved Rs 25 lakh for the memorial.

Farate's folks sought after the memorial to be finished before his first loss of life anniversary and had met the mayor in September to hurry up the work. The folks had steered some places near Hadapsar and Bhekrainagar for the memorial and sought after a bust be put in in Bankar highschool in Hadapsar where Saurabh had studied.

"The elected members will decide about the venue after taking into account the parents' suggestions," Murlidhar Mohol, chairman of the standing committee, said. Farate was once killed with Shashikant Pandey (24) and Ratheesh C (28) when terrorists attacked their convoy in Pampore in December 2016.
