Lecture on Sanskrit origins of Islamic scientific legacy held at AU

ALLAHABAD: Department of Arabic & Persian of Allahabad University organised a lecture on Sanskrit origins of Islamic medical legacy, on Wednesday. Renowned scholar Prof Abdul Ali, former head of the department of Islamic Studies, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), was once the keynote speaker of the lecture.


In his deal with, Prof Ali spoke at the subject elaborately. He mentioned that though the modern civilization takes its shape in the West, however its roots are in India. He connected the relation of knowledge with Quran with some quotes of its verses that the disclosing of Quran starts in regards to the importance of knowledge and pen. He additionally mentioned that there are lots of verses of Sanskrit which denotes in regards to the importance of knowledge.


In its thought he offered many Indian and Arab writers and their large works in arithmetic astronomies and medical science. He mentioned about Umaiyah and Abbasids periods and large translated works executed by means of its caliphs. Prof Mridula Tripathi, former dean of Arts, AU, while presiding the development mentioned that when wisdom was once surviving and flourishing out of doors India and while Europe was once in darkish till 16thcentury, the concept of bacteria was once already mentioned in Jain literature in detailed as early as sixth century BC. Justice S P Keserwani mentioned that Al Bairuni who came to India and studied Sanskrit books of arithmetic and astronomy and offered it a few of the Arabs.


Khwaja Ghulamus Saiyedain, a well-known epigraphist of India and former director Arabic & Persian epigraphy, Nagpur Museum offered and focused at the importance of epigraphy. Dr Saleha Rasheed HoD Arabic & Persian mentioned that Sanskrit has its importance as of late as it used to have at historic time.
