BHUBANESWAR: Apparently not able to withstand the trauma of being allegedly branded as a thief by way of friends, a business control student hanged herself to death in Unit-VIII house right here on Tuesday. The deceased Taniya Banerjee, 19, was once pursuing bachelor of business management (BBA) in DAV School of Business Management right here, police mentioned.
Banerjee's frame was once discovered placing from the room of her hostel on the institute's campus in the morning. Banerjee's mom Keya, who lives in Talcher house in Angul district, lodged a grievance with Capital police station, alleging her daughter was once being mentally stressed by way of some of her friends for previous few days. "My daughter was being branded as a thief by some of her classmates and seniors. She was in deep trauma and faced humiliation. She cried a lot while speaking with me over phone on Monday evening. Those, whose mischief forced her to end her life, should be brought to book," Keya instructed media individuals.
The institute rubbished the allegations. "We did not receive any complaint of mental harassment, subjected to her by anyone. She was a brilliant student. She never told us whether she faced any problem. Police will find out the cause of her suicide," the institute's essential D N Mishra instructed the journalists.
Police mentioned they are going to ask her hostel mates. "We came to know that her roommate had shifted to another room on Monday night. Banerjee stayed alone in the room and locked it from inside. We will investigate into the cause of her suicide," deputy commissioner of police Satyabrata Bhoi mentioned. BJD's MLA from Talcher Braja Kishore Pradhan visited Capital Hospital right here right through Banerjee's autopsy and asked the police to properly examine into the circumstances resulting in her death.
