COIMBATORE: Days after the Muthanankulam bund caved in on Friday, exposing town company's failure to set up protecting walls around lakes, the civic body has commenced paintings on strengthening the tank bund at a price of Rs 13 lakh.

"We have begun constructing the wall that will be 40ft long, 4ft wide on the lake side and 2ft wide near the road," mentioned Saravana Kumar, government engineer (in-charge) for west zone. The total estimate is pegged at Rs 13 lakh.
