Odisha to release Rs 50 lakh to preserve Bezbaroa house

GUWAHATI: The Odisha govt, which had assured Assam of no longer demolishing the house of literary doyen Lakshminath Bezbaroa, on Tuesday walked the extra mile by taking the duty of maintaining it as neatly.


Odisha tourism and cultural affairs minister Ashok Kumar Panda mentioned Rs 50 lakh can be launched by the federal government in the first segment for the preservation work of Bezbaroa's residence-cum-office. He added that more money shall be launched in next levels if the will arises.


Last week, the scoop of Odisha govt ordering to dismantle the dilapidated area of Bezbaroa located at Nelson Mandela Chowk on the banks of the Mahanadi to to make means for a bridge and building of rotary junction created a storm in Assam. Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal in an instant called up his Odsiha counterpart Naveen Patnaik and requested him to offer protection to the house.
