ALLAHABAD: Senior Congress chief and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad, said on Friday that birthday celebration vice-president Rahul Gandhi is fighting on my own in opposition to PM Narendra Modi in Gujarat meeting elections.
"The Congress would come out victorious in Gujarat under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi despite the fact that the PM and three-fourth of his cabinet are camping there," he added.
Targeting the PM, Azad said, "Prime Minister talks about his sacrifices, but he should learn the real definition of sacrifice from former prime minister Jawahar Lal Nehru and his father Moti Lal Nehru and other family members who gave up 'amiri' (riches) and fought for the freedom of country".
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi usually says that he has made sacrifices in becoming PM, and if it is a sacrifice then every countryman should be given similar opportunity," said Azad while including, "The real sacrifice was made by Nehru-Gandhi family which sacrificed a lot for the country".
Azad used to be talking at the beginning centenary celebrations of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in Allahabad .
Azad also visited Anand Bhawan, the beginning place of former high minister Indira Gandhi, early morning and said "This place gives new energy, and new strength".
"The people of Allahabad consider themselves to be lucky for the association with Nehru-Gandhi family. I am also lucky as Nehru family was also associated with Kashmir," he said.
