PANAJI: It is worrying to listen to those tales of sexual abuse in Hollywood, said Cameron Bailey, who has been the artistic director of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Canada. He was once speaking to TOI about the tales of sexual abuse by the hands of Hollywood giants like Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey on the sidelines of the NFDC Film Bazaar in Goa.
"It is deeply disturbing to hear these stories of abuse and to hear how widespread it is. There is a kind of a constant presence of gender inequity which is partly exercised through harassment and sometimes even through violence against women. The fact that women are now speaking up in greater numbers, more and more people are paying attention to this and seeing this as something that needs to be stopped; that's a very good thing,"
He additional added that sexual harassment may be prevalent in almost in every sector like the political global, business global and the sports activities global.
"We need to listen and believe the people who are coming forward to tell their stories. Then put every measure in place to prevent it from ever happening again." Bailey said.
