CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu govt on Thursday launched the rank checklist, in line with NEET-2018 scores, for admissions to MBBS and BDS classes in the state.
Health minister C Vijaya Baskar mentioned the state has launched two rank lists -- one for candidates to govt and self-financing colleges in govt quota and the opposite for control seats in self-financing colleges.
The state won 28,067 programs from students for admission to govt colleges. Among them, Keerthana K from Chennai crowned the checklist with 676 marks, adopted through Dharmapuri’s Raj Chendur Abishek R who secured 656 marks and Chennai’s Praveen R with 650 marks.
While Keerthana’s rating is 20 issues higher than that of remaining year’s topper, Praveen has one point lesser than his counterpart remaining year.
Dharmapuri’s Raj Chendur Abishek R crowned the checklist of candidates among 19,280 students who had carried out seats in the control quota. Although just two girls made it to the highest 10 on each the rank lists, there were more than 17,000 girls at the checklist, in comparison to just about 10,000 boys. There was once one transgender.
When the counselling for admission starts on July 1, the state may have 3,328 seats – 2,447 seats in state-run medical colleges, 127 seats in Rajah Muthiah Medical College, 65 seats in ESIC in KK Nagar and 689 seats in self-financing colleges below the state quota.
In addition, it is going to admit students to 516 seats below the control quota.
The collection of candidates from other students also went up this year. There were 809 candidates from other states for the government quota seats and 1,960 students for the control quota seats.
“We tightened the principles for claiming nativity this year. Other state students who've studied in Tamil Nadu will have to prove that they studied right here between Class VI and Class XII. Tamil Nadu students who've studied in other states will have to produce documents including that in their folks to prove nativity. We have also insisted that students who claim they're natives of our state can't claim nativity in some other state,” mentioned health secretary J Radhakrishnan.
Nearly 10% of candidates on each rank lists are students who handed Class XII before 2017.
