Two arrested for distributing sweets to voters in Dankaur

GREATER NOIDA: Two persons have been arrested on Sunday for violating the type code of habits forward of civic elections in Dankaur. The accused, Dharmendra (34) and Vijay Pal (32), have been caught distributing sweets to citizens on behalf of Samajwadi Party candidate Rajwati Devi, who's contesting the elections for the post of nagar panchayat member.


Farmood Ali Pundir, SHO, Dankaur police station, said the police have been tipped off about some people distributing sweets with the intention to influence citizens on November 26. "The police arrested two persons and seized a car loaded with sweets packages. A case for bribery under Section 171 (E) of IPC has been registered in this regard. The accused were produced in court and sent to judicial custody," said the SHO.


Meanwhile, another person used to be arrested for sporting unlawful liquor in Kasna space on Sunday. B N Singh, district magistrate, said the administration will take stringent motion in opposition to people violating type code of habits. "The officials of excise department arrested a person named Ranjeet with 20 illegal liquor bottles in Kasna area. The liquor was being transported for distribution among local people," he said.


In Gautam Budh Nagar, elections to Nagar Palika Parishad shall be held in Dadri whilst elections shall be held in Dankaur, Rabupura, Bilaspur, Jewar, and Jahangirpur for Nagar Panchayat. These elections are not held in Noida and parts of Greater Noida, that are ruled by means of respective Authorities.
