Belagavi: Within 24 hours, police nabbed a lady who allegedly set a 5-year-old girl ablaze in Hire Belikatti village in Bailhongal taluk on November 27.

The sufferer Rajeshwari Shivappa Barki used to be declared dead upon attaining BIMS Hospital in Belagavi. The accused, Nirmala Nagappa Dodwad, 26, used to be produced sooner than a court docket on Tuesday. She is now cooling her heels in Hindalga Jail.

Circle inspector Raghvendra Hawaldar advised TOI that an inspector used to be despatched to the village to research the case. "The villagers didn't know of the murder till we started investigating the case. We got a case filed by Shivappa Ramappa Barki, father of the deceased, and arrested the accused," he mentioned.
