GURGAON: In a bid to offer higher amenities and security to women, the Haryana government made several bulletins on Monday, which include a mobile for widows at the state women's fee, upper per month pension and beauty marks in tests for government jobs among others.

Vocational talents training might be supplied to 30,000 impoverished widows thru a partnership with The Loomba Foundation and Rotary India Literacy Mission.

United Kingdom's former first lady Cherie Blair, CBE QC, who visited Gurgaon on Monday, stated, "The objective of the partnership project is to empower 1,000 widows in each of the 30 states for three to six months, in different skills like tailoring, sewing, hair styling, etc. Around 2,000 children of poor widows will also be educated under the programme."

Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who was once provide at the tournament, introduced that through the end of this year, a separate mobile might be set up for widows at Haryana State Commission for Women. The mobile will facilitate women in resolving their issues on priority and ensuring that the problems do not recur.

Khattar also introduced that the per month pension for widows might be larger from Rs 1,600 to Rs 1,800 from January 1, 2018 and to Rs 2,000 through 2019. Currently, round six lakh widows in the state are paid per month pension. Those with children underneath the age of 21 years also are given an help of Rs 700 monthly for the schooling of as much as two children.


Besides this, an additional five% marks might be added to the doorway exam rating of widow applicants for government jobs. The determination was once made in the last cabinet meeting on November 21. The leverage might be given in government jobs, during which recruitment might be made through the Haryana Staff Selection Commission.

In the last three years, 147 dependants of martyrs were given employment in Haryana. These include 31 widows, 27 daughters and 89 sons of martyrs. From November 1, the state government has enhanced the pension of widows of veterans of World War 2 from Rs 4,000 to Rs 10,000 monthly. Nearly five,000 war widows might be benefited through this. Also, a per month pension of Rs 10,000 has been introduced for widows of persons who participated in the Hindi struggle of 1957, that resulted in the carving of Haryana as a separate state.
