3,500 cops on roads for New Year

GURUGRAM : Police have made up our minds to deploy around three,500 team of workers, including 900 trainee police officers from different districts, to man visitors and oversee regulation and order on days leading to the New Year.
Officers said the preparations, beginning Friday night time, have been made with focal point on six issues — keeping up regulation and order, smooth waft of visitors, heading off brawls in restaurants and pubs, security of women, heading off accidents because of drunken riding, dashing and triple-riding on motorbikes.

In addition to the team of workers on duty, 96 police outposts will probably be post throughout Gurgaon district. These include 37 check-posts in east zone, 48 within the west and 11 within the southern a part of the district.

The police said the maximum deployment of police officers could be in and around Cyber Hub, MG Road, Golf Course Road, Sector 29 and Sohna Road.Around 25 check-posts were arrange around pubs and department stores within the town. These include outposts close to Sahara Mall, Vipul Agora Mall, DT City Centre Mall, MGF Metropolitan mall, Kingdom of Dreams, Huda Ground and so forth.

The police group overseeing regulation and order can have 14 assistant commissioners, 60 inspectors, 450 visitors team of workers and 900 outstation trainee police officers, officers said. These could be in addition to police officers from the local police stations.

Besides the police cover, there will probably be five fire tenders, two cranes and two ambulances at Iffco Chowk, Bristol Chowk, Sector 29 Market and South City. Counter-assault groups, including bomb disposal squads, anti-sabotage verify groups, rider duty and PCR trucks, too, will probably be patrolling the district trough the times.

The police have declared MG Road a no-driving zone from 6pm on Sunday (December 31) till Monday morning. "There will be no entry of vehicles on the road from Iffco Chowk, Hotel Westin, Bristol Chowk and the Sikanderpur side. Only residents who have valid car stickers will be allowed to move," said DCP (visitors) Deepak Gahlawat.


In a bid to curb incidents of drink riding, Gurgaon police have partnered with a taxi aggregator. Ola cabs will probably be to be had from devoted parking rather a lot in Cyber Hub, Sector 29 Market and MG Road.


The police said they'd be sure that none of the drivers of those cabs are inebriated. The police officers would raise alco sensors and verify the ones exiting the celebration hubs for alcohol levels. If discovered inebriated, folks could be advised to arrange for a driver or hire a cab, the police said.


"We have partnered with Gurgaon Traffic Police and the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) to promote awareness and help curb the menace of drink driving on New Year's-eve, as part of its national campaign '#PeeKeMatChala' (don't drink and drive). We will have dedicated parking lots and manned kiosks in popular places like Cyber Hub, Sector 29 Market and MG Road to assist partygoers opting for safe travel," said Pranav Mehta, town head, Delhi NCR, of Ola.
