CHANDIGARH: A man was allegedly battered to loss of life via his wife’s brother, just four months after his inter-caste marriage, in a village of Tohana subdivision of Fatehabad district.
Gurmit Singh, a resident of Nangla, succumbed to his accidents whilst undergoing treatment at PGI in Chandigarh on Tuesday, five days after he was attacked with rods via his wife’s brother. He had married Jyoti, from any other caste, just four months back towards the needs of her circle of relatives.
Acting on the grievance of Gurmit’s elder brother Manjit Singh, Tohana police have arrested his brother-in-law Sandeep Kumar and taken him in remand for questioning.
Meanwhile, Jyoti too has sought police protection. Her cousin Vijay had allegedly threatened the couple of dire penalties, following which the couple had approached the police. A case in this regard was also registered at Sadar police station.
On Friday, Gurmit and Manjit have been on their way to Tohana from their village on a two-wheeler, when they have been forcibly stopped via Sandeep and his two friends near Bidhai Khera. The three accused hit the brothers with iron and wood rods, leaving Gurmit with grievous head accidents.
Gurmit was rushed to the civil sanatorium, from the place he was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh, after his situation deteriorated. Meanwhile, his family members and villagers blocked the Fatehabad highway, tough the arrest of the accused and in addition accused the police of going slow within the case.
However, police officials have denied the fees, pronouncing a case beneath try to homicide was registered on Saturday, which was later transformed right into a homicide case. One accused has been arrested and others would nabbed quickly, they mentioned.
