GREATER NOIDA: The state cupboard on Tuesday authorized the disbursal of Rs 330 crore to Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) to start out obtaining land for the sanctioned global airport at Jewar.
"We are expecting the amount to be credited to the Authority today," YEIDA chief executive officer (CEO) Arun Vir Singh instructed TOI. "This is the first step in putting the project on track. Once we receive the money, we will forward the land acquisition proposal to the Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate," Singh said.
The YEIDA earmarked 8 villages for land acquisition for the first phase of the sanctioned global airport at Jewar in October this yr. "To acquire the land by invoking Section 4 of the Uttar Pradesh Land Acquisition Act, 2013, we needed Rs 330 crores, which is 10% of the Rs 3,000 crores required for the first phase of the project," the CEO said.
According to YEIDA officers, the proposal for the land acquisition will quickly be officially forwarded to the Gautam Budh Nagar district administration. "Four tehsildars (district land officials) will be tasked with handling all procedures for acquiring land in two villages each. One additional tehsildar will assist the sub-divisional magistrate in the process. In the first phase of the project, 1,200 hectares of land has to be acquired across eight villages. These villages include Runhera, Kishorepur, Mukim Sivara, Dayanatpur, Rohi, Parohi, Ramner and Banwariwaas," Singh said.
To make sure that no land mafia becomes active in the house, land acquisition might be done beneath the supervision of drone cameras. "The present location, position and status of the land will be videographed so that it is put on record and land mafia cannot contest it and lay claim to it in the future. Everything will be on record," he added.
On October 25, the UP govt had granted in-principle approval for acquiring a mortgage of Rs three,000 crores from the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited, a Union govt agency, for the project. The airport might be advanced in 3 stages across three,000 hectares of land, and about 1,250 hectares might be required in the first phase of the project. To achieve this land, YEIDA will require about Rs three,000 crores. "We expect this amount also to be arranged soon by the state government," Singh said.
