Dharwad to host 3-day music festival

Dharwad: Sangeetotsava, a three-day musical banquet, is all set to enthrall the twin cities from Friday. Organized via Bharatiya Sangeeta Vidyalaya, the development to be held at the Srujana Auditorium here will mark the 63rd loss of life anniversary of Sitar Ratna, Rahimat Khan.


Sangeetotsava opens at 6pm with a efficiency via sitarist Mansur Ali Khan of Goa. He shall be accompanied via Nissar Ahmed at the tabla. This follows a vocal recital via Gauri Pathare of Mumbai. Satalingappa Desai Kallur will accompany her at the tabla and Guruprasad Hegde at the harmonium.


At 6pm on Saturday, Naresh Malhotra of Delhi will provide vocal recital with Shridhar Mandre at the tabla and Guruprasad Hegde at the harmonium. Also within the night, Josh Feinberg of america will provide a sitar live performance, accompanied via Ravikiran Nakod at the tabla. Sunday's consultation begins with a vocal recital via Kaushik Aithal of Bengaluru at 6pm. He shall be accompanied at the tabla via Uday Kulkarni and at the samvadini via Satish Kolli. The event ends with a flute live performance via Rupak Kulkarni of Mumbai. He shall be accompanied at the tabla via Rajendra Nakod.


Established in 1932 via Rahimat, the Bharatiya Sangeeta Vidyalaya has been providing sitar coaching to kids. Noted sitarist Ustad Bale Khan was the pillar of the establishment until he passed away 4 years ago. His brothers and nephews endured the circle of relatives custom of sitar. The establishment has been organizing a music programme at least one time a month since 2001 in affiliation with the Dr Annajirao Shirur Rangamandira Trust. Raghavendra Ayi heads the organizing committee as its president.
