Guwahati doodle artist explores new vistas

GUWAHATI: Having made a name for himself on the global platform with his doodle art, Santanu Hazarika is now on a venture to take his art at par with other mainstream forms whilst infusing elements of Assamese culture.

At the upcoming Rongali Festival, Hazarika will showcase his paintings that amalmagates the important thing options of his paintings with Assamese culture. "The upcoming Rongali Festival is a perfect venue to showcase the conflation of doodle art with Assamese art and culture. There will be intermingling and synchronisation of the doodle art and the traditional aspects of our rich and powerful culture," mentioned Hazarika.


An engineering dropout, he was declared the winner at a world doodle art contest in Cape Town in South Africa in 2014. This yr, he was invited to pass judgement on the similar contest in San Francisco, USA.


In his doodle art, the 25-year-old artist explores metaphysical issues, hyper-realism or even Vedic and Hindu philosophies. "I think and approach my art from a subconscious level. It is more of a narrative approach that accommodates symbolism and modern relatives. The selection of abstract themes is independent and their interpretation is objective in nature," he added.
