GURUGRAM: The Haryana State Industry and Infrastructure Corporation (HSIIDC) has agreed to provide land for a slaughterhouse in IMT Sohna after MCG's abattoir challenge hit a land hurdle.
According to the MCG officials, the HSIIDC choice to provide land for the challenge was communicated this week. "As per the latest communication from HSIIDC, they will provide two acres in IMT Sohna for the development of the slaughterhouse. The exact location is, however, yet to be finalised," stated Sudhir Chouhan, senior the city planner, MCG.
He added that the municipal corporation have been continuously following up with HSIIDC on land allotment as town urgently calls for a slaughterhouse. Also, MCG feared it could lose the ministry of meals processing industry (MoFPI) grant for a slaughterhouse, worth Rs 50 lakh, if land wasn't allotted till the tip of January.
At a meeting held in November, MoFPI officials had instructed MCG that in the event that they didn't finalise the land, the grant could be cancelled with out every other attention. The general price of the challenge is nearly Rs 15 crore and it was first proposed in 2012.
According to the MCG officials, maximum meat shops in the city are unlawful. In March, MCG had shut down many of those unlawful shops after the federal government requested all municipal our bodies in the state to provide information about unlawful and accepted slaughterhouses. After this crackdown on meat shops, the slaughterhouse challenge won momemtum, at the same time as it's been in the pipeline for almost five years now.
MCG had earlier proposed a multi-level trendy slaughterhouse in Sector 37, very similar to the one in Ghazipur. However, locals, who had been against the sort of trade in their area, harassed MCG to shelve the plan and the municipal frame determined to build a slaughterhouse out of doors civic areas.
