Nitin Patel agrees to take charge after assurance from Amit Shah

AHMEDABAD: A brewing disaster within the Gujarat executive seems to have ended after BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday reached out to deputy leader minister Nitin Patel, who had behind schedule taking fee over not getting necessary ministries within the new cabinet.
Patel arrived at Swarnim Sankul I in Gandhinagar on Sunday morning and assumed fee. He had not visited his workplace or used the federal government car as mark of protest.

Patel advised media that the federal government officials would tell the state governor about his new portfolios on Sunday afternoon.

"I had started my work after taking oath and had also reviewed issues such as groundnut purchase with secretaries. But I am assuming my office today. The full-fledged work will start from the New Year," Patel advised media at his workplace as he sought blessings from spiritual heads.

"I believe that my respect is restored and the party has upheld my dignity. The PM has blessed me. I have enjoyed cordial relationship with all the chief ministers of Gujarat," said the deputy CM when wondered concerning the new duties. "The government will intimate the Governor about it."

Patel said that he did not improve the 'Mehsana Bandh' call by means of Sardar Patel Group (SPG), a Patidar outfit, for January 1. SPG had termed it a fight for the Patidar neighborhood and had declared the bandh as a show of harmony for Patel.

Earlier within the day, Patel had addressed media at his place of abode in Ahmedabad the place he claimed that he was No. 2 even when Narendra Modi and Amit Shah were on the helm.

"When the decision of portfolio allocation was taken, important ministries such as health and finance were taken away from me. I made a representation that if such an important departments are given back to me, I can discharge my duty in honourable manner. I conveyed my feelings to the high command," said Patel.

He said that whilst he attended the cabinet meeting at the side of the chief minister, he conveyed to the prime command that he should be relieved of his tasks if not given necessary ministries.


"I got a call in the morning from (BJP national president) Amit Shah. He told me that they are thinking about me and requested me to take charge of my work. He could have instructed me but instead requested and assured me that my demands would be taken care of," said Patel, adding that he would resume paintings as Shah has shown self assurance in him.


Patel maintained that his stance was not about publish or power but to uphold his recognize and dignity. "I was not displeased. I just wanted the departments I was heading earlier. I have been discharging duties as a minister since 1995," he said.
