Noida: A video appearing students of an English-medium college in Greater Noida painting the boundary wall has long gone viral on social media, prompting the district management to factor a showcause understand to the establishment.
The video, it appears shot round 12.30pm on Friday, presentations round 10 students of Father Agnel School painting the boundary wall. The person recording the scholars will also be heard asking a pupil his title and class.
"I am a student of seventh class of Father Agnel School," the kid replies within the clip. He further says he stays within the hostel within the compound.
Asked via the videographer the title of the trainer who had asked the scholars to paint the wall, the scholar names one "Alex Sir".
P Okay Upadhyay, the district inspector of schools, said: "We have asked them the reason behind the incident that has been reported. This is not a very big crime and cannot exactly be termed 'child labour'. But still, we have asked the school to explain why we should not recommend the cancellation of its affiliation to CBSE."
The subject reached the district management after some activists raised questions, saying the transfer amounted to child labour.
"If it is an internal activity, it should happen inside the school. I visited the school and told the authorities that it was wrong," said Harinder Bhati, a member of the Active Citizens Team of Greater Noida Residents.
Alex Dias, the supervisor of hostels, said the scholars painting the wall have been all hostellers who had chosen the work themselves throughout the wintry weather smash.
"We have winter vacation from December 23 to January 5. To keep the children busy, we engage them in various activities like singing, dancing, gardening, picking flowers and so on. These are our students and they want to keep the surroundings clean. On Bal Bhawan Day, we celebrate the beginning of Bal Bhawan, for which the kids prepare themselves," said Dias.
