The effigies product of hay, bamboo and paper are burnt on roads and circles on the night time of December 31 as a symbol of burning unpleasant reminiscences of the previous year.
The custom of burning the effigy of Old Man originates in Santa Fe, New Mexico, relationship again to 1924. It is known in the Camp area where people prepare and sell Old Man effigies ranging from 2ft to 20feet high.
