GUWAHATI: As a precautionary measure, Kamrup (metro) district administration has constituted 3 groups to observe the celebrations to be held tonight on New Year's eve. Bar and restaurant house owners have additionally met and held discussions with the deputy commissioner M Angamuthu on Saturday. They were asked to put in CCTV cameras and take all different important steps to prevent any untoward incident within the town.
"We have strictly asked the restaurant and bar owners to maintain the norms for safe celebrations. We have also asked them to appoint both male and female bouncers. Our officials will monitor the proceedings during the night hours," Angamuthu said. Owners violating these norms will stand the chance of getting their licences cancelled, he added.
Three groups were arrange via - each and every group comprising further district magistrates and govt magistrates with the members from other departments - to observe the west, central and east zones. Additional district Justice of the Peace Pulok Mahanta would be the nodal officer of the groups.
"The teams will monitor the timing of events held at the bars and restaurants and maintenance of decency. They will also survey the quality of food served and ensure the maintenance of peace and tranquillity during the night time," Angamuthu added.
