Greater Noida: Two smugglers were arrested on Friday night time in Dankaur and large quantity of illegal liquor was once seized from them. The smugglers were known as Chandra Prakash (25), a resident of Faridabad and Pawan (26), a resident of Dankaur.
Farmood Ali Pundir, SHO, Dankaur police station, mentioned they gained a tip-off about movement of smugglers in the space. "We deployed a police team at Sikandrabad bypass road at night. Two men came in a Maruti Alto. The team signalled them to stop and asked them to show the papers of vehicle, but they failed to do so," Pundir mentioned.
Cops then found 16 cartons of illegal liquor, a country-made gun and two live cartridges in the automobile. The arrested men mentioned they smuggled liquor from Haryana and bought them in Greater Noida. "The price of liquor in Haryana is cheaper than in Greater Noida.This time, we aimed to sell the liquor on New Year eve," Pawan informed the police.
"We've registered a case against them under Excise Act. They were produced in court from where they were sent to judicial custody," mentioned Pundir.
