NEW DELHI: Former chief minister of Bihar Lalu Prasad sentencing by the particular CBI court in the second one fodder rip-off case has been postponed until the following day.
A different CBI court had on December 23 convicted the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and 15 others in a case associated with the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 84.5 lakh from the Deoghar district treasury in Bihar between 1990 and 1994. Lalu used to be convicted in the first of 5 fodder rip-off instances, in 2013, and for that used to be sentenced to 5 years in jail.
Lalu's attorney on Tuesday told journalists that they would press for minimal punishment in the case given the RJD chief's age.
"Lalu is 70 years old and suffering from many diseases. We will seek minimum punishment for him", he mentioned.
The former chief minister of Bihar is lately lodged in Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi.
The CBI court had acquitted any other former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra and five others in the second one fodder rip-off case. Lalu Prasad used to be the Chief Minister of then undivided Bihar from 1990 to 1997.
