30 lakh expected to take holy dip on Paush Purnima

ALLAHABAD: The 43-day Magh Mela is commencing with Paush Purnima on Tuesday. The government be expecting that 30 lakh devotees would take a holy dip at the first day of the religious match. Over 30,000 devotees had already assembled at Sangam by way of Monday evening.
The mela police reviewed security arrangements particularly crowd control in any respect 15 ghats and claimed that an elaborate security plan is in position for first holy tub. The ATS commandos have also been deployed on ghats.


Religious student Ashutosh Varshney mentioned aside from holy dip, charity and religious activities will be the main feature of the day. The pilgrims try to earn 'punya' by way of making donations.


Paush Purnima marks the beginning of month-long austerity length this is noticed all over Magh. Kalpwasis keep at the banks of Ganga and take part in spiritual and religious activities. It is believed that the holy dip at the auspicious day of Paush Purnima liberates the soul from the cycle of birth and death.


Mela nodal officer Neeraj Pandey mentioned that round three,000 team of workers including jawans of PAC and RAF have been deployed. Stress is being laid on crowd control. The traffic police have imposed restrictions and diverted heavy traffic thru alternative ways. On Monday, over 20,000 kalpwasi remained busy in arrangements.


The Mela government also assessment arrangements for medical and health, transportation, sanitation, ration distribution, misplaced and located camp, potable water and other civic amenities.
