Minister draws BJD flak for railway project remark

BHUBANESWAR: The ruling BJD on Sunday upped the ante in opposition to Union minister of state for railways Rajen Gohain, who criticized the state government over prolong in land acquisition for an important railway tasks.
The early life and students wings of the BJD took out a motorcycle rally from the celebration's state headquarters to Master Canteen and staged an indication in opposition to the Union minister. The celebration accused Gohain of looking to lie to the folks by making baseless allegations in opposition to the state government with no need any info.

"It is unfortunate that Union ministers are blaming the state government without giving facts. Yesterday, the Union minister could not answer when he was asked to name the projects which were held up due to land acquisition problem. This proves that the Union ministers are doing it for political reasons and to deceive the people of Odisha. We condemn such attitude," said BJD student wing president Rana Pratap Patra.


Gohain, who used to be right here on Saturday to inaugurate new development at the city railway station (from platform -6 aspect), had mentioned that although the NDA government has sanctioned considerable quantity for state's railway sector, some of the tasks may just now not take off because of prolong in land acquisition. "We could not initiate work on several projects due to land acquisition problem. But there is no dearth of funds to carry out these projects," Gohain had mentioned.


The minister had also faced embarrassment when he failed to answer journalists' queries concerning the explicit tasks that did not make headway because of prolong in land acquisition. "I should have kept the information with me, but now I don't have," he said. State shipping minister Nrusingha Charan Sahu had also lashed out at the Centre by announcing that the railways will have to complete the work on the land to be had with it instead of indulging in blame game.


Some of the long-pending railway tasks in Odisha include Khurda-Balangir hyperlink, Haridaspur-Paradip line and Talcher-Bimalagarh line that might cross thru Deogarh district.
