Arun Jaitley offers pre-Budget 'halwa' to Finance Ministry officials

NEW DELHI: Following the Indian custom of getting one thing candy ahead of surroundings out on an auspicious paintings, the Finance Ministry right here on Saturday performed the "halwa" rite to mark the commencement of the printing process for the 2018-19 Budget.

Traditionally, the candy dish is cooked in huge quantity and the finance minister serves it to the officials in the ministry. The printing of funds yearly starts with a "halwa-making ceremony".


Budget 2018-19 would be introduced by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on February 1. This will be the 5th funds to be introduced by Jaitley.


The Union Budget 2018-19 would be the ultimate complete funds of the BJP-led NDA government ahead of the 2019 General Elections.
