Brain bee contest held at CBCS, Allahabad University

ALLAHABAD: The regional mind bee, a neuroscience contest for 11th grade scholars, was once hosted through the Centre of Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences, Allahabad University, on Saturday.
The winner of this 12 months's contest was once Saumya Chaubey from an English medium college of town. The first runner-up was once Supriya Patel whilst the second runner-up was once Rohit Verma. The winner can be going to Cochin in April 2018 for the national-level festival.

The technical workforce of Allahabad region included CBCS members, including Prof Bhoomika R Kar and Dr V S Chandrasekhar Pammi along with PhD students Richa Nigam, Garima Joshi, Sarvanan Priyam and Master's scholars.

The director of CBCS, Prof Narayanan Srinivasan stated, "this contest is an attempt to motivate students to learn about the brain, to capture their imaginations, and inspire them to pursue careers in biomedical brain research".

Thirty two scholars from 17 prestigious colleges and schools from Allahabad participated in the event. Parents and teachers of the students were additionally invited to attend and inspire them. The festival consisted of a written test adopted through the oral rounds consisting of 3 phases, with expanding point of difficulty.


Prof Janak Pandey, founder head of CBCS and former Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Bihar spoke concerning the fast emergence of the mind sciences as a big house of analysis. He inspired scholars to believe the mind sciences as a promising occupation and proposed the teachers to organise an identical events in school point with the enhance of CBCS.


The event was once organised through the school and students of CBCS. The judges were K P Singh of the dep. of Zoology, and Chhitij Srivastava of the dep. of Psychiatry, MLN Medical College, Allahabad.


Prof Janak Pandey felicitated the winners and presented certificate of participation. Prof Srinivasan awarded participation certificate to all of the contestants.

The Indian National Brain Bee champion-2018 will be invited to participate in the International Brain Bee finals scheduled in Berlin, Germany in July, 2018, informed the director CBCS.
