Odisha: Man stabbed to death at Palli Sabha

BHUBANESWAR: A man allegedly stabbed a youth to demise at Talpada village in Khurda district on Saturday morning.
The police arrested the accused soon after the incident.

The accused has been known as Krutibasa Paikray of the same village. The deceased Charan Pradhan, 48 succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital.

Police stated the incident happened when a palli sabha on plantation by means of agriculture department was once occurring within the village.


"We have arrested the accused and he has been remanded in judicial custody after the court rejected his bail," stated SP (Khurda) Dipti Ranjan Ray.


Police stated all the way through the palli sabha, a heated argument ensued between Krutibasa and Charan over the allotment of plantation.


"In a sudden fit of rage, Krutibasa rushed towards Charan and stabbed him. He was having a small knife hidden in his pocket. The weapon has been seized," stated Ray including Krutibasa was once profusely bleeding because the knife had hit a vital organ.


"We are investigating other reasons to see if Krutibasa had harboured a grudge against Pradhan. The body has been sent for post mortem after which other reasons if any can be known," stated a police officer. Palli sabha was once called off due to the incident, he added.
