CM Sonowal distributes free bikes to Class XII topper girls

GUWAHATI: Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday launched a programme to distribute unfastened scootys to 1000 lady scholars who excelled within the Class XII state board checks. One of the finances guarantees of the BJP-led govt had been that unfastened motorcycles would be handed over to meritorious lady scholars.

Sonowal handed over the allotment certificate and the keys to the two-wheelers at a serve as within the town within the presence of training minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The CM expressed happiness that the day coincided with National Youth Day, the delivery anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

"Our government has been striving to sustain an academic atmosphere and make quality the only attribute to select beneficiaries into the fold of government programmes. We are committed to quality higher education and it through this that qualitative changes will be brought about in the state," mentioned the CM.

Education minister Sarma mentioned the theory of giving unfastened two-wheelers in recognition to meritorious lady scholars is a small gesture of the state's govt's efforts to boost up women empowerment. "Though the state government has decided to give free motorbikes to 1000 students this year, next year the number of beneficiaries will be increased to 5000," mentioned Sarma.

Students who opted to not take possession of the cars have been handed a sum of Rs 35,000.
