Coimbatore to get 27 new auto traffic signals

COIMBATORE: Commuters, get in a position to slowdown. The town site visitors police are all set to install as many as 27 more automatic site visitors signals across the town inside a month to cut back deadly accidents.

Deputy commissioner of police Sujit Kumar (site visitors) told TOI that the transfer was once to cut back the speed of the automobiles in town limits. "We plan to reduce the number of fatal accidents in every month to below 10," he stated.


"As of now the city has 51 traffic signals. We conducted a study to reduce the fatal accidents. We found that many junctions in the city did not have traffic signals. So motorists were driving their vehicles in rash and negligent manner in these areas," stated Sujit Kumar.


The 27 places are: Chinniyampalayam junction, RG Pudur Junction, Thottipalayam Pirivu, Goldwins, Kalapatti -Nehru Nagar junction, Kamarajar Road - Varadharajapuram junction, SIHS Colony junction on Trichy street, Vasantha Mill junction, Venkatalakshmi School junction, Perks faculty junction, Olympus, Ramakrishnapuram -Vilankurichi Road junction on Sathyamangalam street, Saravanampatti -Kalapatti Road junction, Sathyamangalam street -Thudiyalur junction, Vysial Street -KG Street junction, Sukrawarpet - Mill street junction, Mettupalayam street - Ramachandra Road junction, Oppanakkara Street -Edayar Street junction, Sungam Bypass street - Link street junction, Thadagam Road - Kovilmedu junction, infront of Mettupalayam street new bus stand access and exit point, Perur street -Sivalaya junction, Pollachi Road - Eachanari junction, Palakkad street - Kuniyamuthur junction and Palakkad street - Kuniyamuthur -Kurichi Pirivu junction.


"We plan to complete the installation of new traffic signals within a month of period. After that, the vehicle speed will be reduced in the city," stated Sujit Kumar.
