Haveri: Haveri Urban Development Authority (Huda) has evolved a well-equipped park in Basaveshwar Nagar at a price of Rs 60 lakh. The authority has equipped essential amenities like play apparatus for youngsters, a strolling trail, fencing, and benches for the guests.
Huda leader Sanjeevkumar Neralagi mentioned the park boundary and strolling trail have been evolved. "The work on improving the green cover is in progress. Play equipment, elevated paths and slides have been installed. At one corner of the park, an open-air stage has been constructed to hold cultural programmes. We have also fixed benches across the park so people, especially senior citizens, can relax," he added.
Lighting facility will likely be equipped so folks will have night time walks. Music can even play be performed, he mentioned, adding that individuals must use the park properly and take care of cleanliness in the lung house.
Mallikarjun Dabbanavar, a localite, mentioned: "Earlier, we did not have any place for walking after two parks in Basaveshwar Nagar were destroyed. Now, Huda has developed this facility between Basaveshwar Nagar 'B' and 'C' blocks. With this, we got a place for walking and a play area for children."
He recalled that there was once no greenery in the space. "As the park did not have any boundary wall, it had become a haven for cattle, dogs and pigs. We are thankful to Huda for fencing the area and providing better facilities there," he added.
Ranjani Kalkoti, a homemaker, favored the Huda's work in growing the world. "However, it should also maintain it properly. Only then such facilities will be useful to the public," she added.
