NEW DELHI: Equity markets on Tuesday overcame initial volatility to complete completely flat as Sensex stayed afloat above the psychological mark of 34,000.
30-share BSE Sensex lost a negligible zero.49 point to near on 33,812.26 whilst the broader 50-share NSE Nifty won 6.65 issues to near on 10,442.20.
The markets on Tuesday opened on a good observe however witnessed a 200-point swing within the initial one hour of buying and selling, continuing on Monday's development when the Street saw a sharp slip within the closing hour on back of media document that the government may impose a tax on long-term fairness holdings.
In Tuesday's business, metal and IT stocks outperformed others whilst PSU bank, pharma and FMCG stocks bled.
Tata Motors, ONGC, Coal India and Infratel were the key gainers whilst Eicher Motors, IndiaBulls, Bharti Airtel and SBI stocks lost the most.
