Mauni Amavasya: 2.25 crore devotees bathe in Sangam

ALLAHABAD: Over 2.25 crore devotees, including saints, seers and kalpwasis took a holy dip in Sangam amid tight security on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya right here on Tuesday.
Pilgrims and devotees persisted to flock to the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and legendary Saraswati since 2am. Mela authorities mentioned more than 2 crore devotees took the holy bath through three pm.

Kinnar Akhara invited to parishad meet

Deviating from earlier stand, president of Akhara Parishad Narendra Giri on Tuesday made up our minds to ask other folks of the newly shaped transgenders' monastic order, Kinnar akhara, within the next assembly of parishad to have their say relating to their participation in Kumbh-2018-19. The reversal within the parishad's determination came after a meeting of Acharya Mahamandleswar of Kinnar Akhara Swami Laxminarayan Tripathi with Giri at Baghamabari Math. Giri mentioned, "They will put forward their views. Our stand on kinnars making a separate akhara is the same so they will not be invited as akharas' representatives but as ordinary people."
