We have strictly asked them to adopt adequate fire safety measures on their premises within two months, failing which they will face legal action," director basic of police (fire products and services) BK Sharma told TOI.


Though Puri has over 300 hotels, the hearth products and services staff managed to check up on handiest 12 distinguished hotels, most commonly located near the seaside on Wednesday. On January 23, a major fire broke out in a room of Ananya Resort on VIP Road in Puri. Luckily, no visitor used to be provide in the room when the mishap took place. "We will continue to conduct inspection in other establishments as well. The raid would have sent the message loud and clear to other defaulters. It is time they should promptly act according to the fire safety Act, or face the music," Sharma stated.
