Karwar: Subhash Mandur, former private assistant of Union minister Anantkumar Hegde, filed a felony grievance at the New Market Yard police station in Sirsi against actor-activist Prakash Rai for allegedly spreading falsehoods thru Twitter.
The minister’s private assistant Suresh Shetty, in any other grievance, alleged that duo Anand Ramanna and Shreyas Muraligouda abused the minister on social media. A grievance has been filed against the duo in response to screenshots in their Facebook posts. Cops are yet to track their whereabouts, but have registered a case in this regard. In his grievance, Suresh too claimed that Rai had allegedly used abusive and defamatory feedback against Anantkumar to defame and insult the minister.
Hegde, Union minister of state for skill building, tweeted the grievance as well as FIR copies from his respectable account. He additionally launched a scathing assault on leftists, thinkers and activists with leftist leanings by way of calling them “ganji giraki” (parasites) of “Sidda’s” (CM Siddaramaiah’s) sponsored drama team, and alleged that they are dividing and deceptive society by way of spreading falsehoods. “I will be able to drag all of them to the courts,” he warned.
In his grievance, Mandur alleged that Prakash Rai tweeted on January 20 that Anantkumar had, at a public meeting, said Dalits are canine — a tweet, which Mandur claimed, was once false. He alleged that Prakash Rai had deliberately tweeted the comment to stoke Dalit anger against Anantkumar and create unrest in society.
Mandur said he noticed the tweet on January 30 and was once pained. Mandur, in his grievance, additional mentioned that as a Dalit he was once humiliated by way of Rai’s tweet. Based on his grievance, New Market Yard police in Sirsi registered an FIR underneath various IPC sections including 153, 153A, 504, 506 and 34.
Police resources said motion might also be initiated underneath Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 if investigation finds that Rai had intentionally used abusive words against Dalits to impress them.
Sirsi police have begun a probe into the whole subject.
