Cabinet approves electrification, lines doubling projects for NCR

ALLAHABAD: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by way of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has authorized 4250 Km-long Jhansi-Manikpur and Bhimsen-Khairar strains doubling and electrification initiatives at a finishing touch price of Rs 4955.72 crore.

Chief Public Relation Officer (CPRO, North Central Railways (NCR), GK Bansal mentioned those initiatives are likely to be finished by way of 2022-23. The initiatives will quilt the districts of Jhansi, Mahoba, Banda, Chitrakut Dham in Uttar Pradesh and Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh.

The present line capability utilisation of Jhansi-Khairar, Khairar-Manikpur and Khairar-Bhimsen is 126%, 160% and 107% respectively, which results in congestion and slow movement of trains.

The doubling will supply for simple movement of trains going or coming from Jhansi, Kanpur and Allahabad without any stoppage for crossing of trains of opposite direction. It will make stronger punctuality of passenger trains and clean operating on the routes of Jhansi-Satna and Kanpur-Satna. It will also help in better protection thru advanced availability for upkeep blocks. It will also lead to general construction of Bundelkhand region, he added.

It is also noted that DFC (Dedicated Freight Corridor) connectivity might be near Bhimsen. Thus, this direction will also act as a feeder direction of DFC and help in financial and business construction thru swift movement of products particularly agricultural produce to consumer areas, and to ports for export.


Likewise, the cement cluster in Satna and infrastructure sector might be any other primary beneficiary from this construction thru smoother movement of cement.


It will also make stronger connectivity to Khajuraho which is a world tourist vacation spot. This will also result in financial prosperity and employment alternatives thru tourism in the region.


Electrification will result in sooner trains, reduced carbon emissions and promotion of sustainable atmosphere. Further, it'll cut back fuel import dependence and lead to power costs financial savings for Railways and foreign exchange financial savings for the country.


In addition, those initiatives will generate direct employment throughout building of about 102 lakh mandays, informed CPRO.
