LONDON: US speedy meals chain KFC stated on Monday it had shut loads of UK shops as German supply supplier DHL left them in need of bird and shoppers without their "fried chicken fix".
KFC stated that more than 700 of its 900 UK-wide hen retail outlets have been pressured to close because the weekend, while others had been offering a downsized menu or shorter opening hours.
"We've brought a new delivery partner onboard, but they've had a couple of teething problems - getting fresh chicken out to 900 restaurants across the country is pretty complex," KFC stated in a statement.
"We would possibly not compromise on quality, so no deliveries has meant a few of our restaurants are closed, and others are operating a restricted menu, or shortened hours.
"We know that this might have inconvenienced a few of you over the previous few days, and upset you while you sought after your fried hen fix -- we are truly sorry about that," the company added.
DHL stated in a separate statement that it was once working to resolve the problem
