Congress failed to eradicate poverty, says Gadkari

Hubballi: Union minister of road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari stated that despite the fact that India is a wealthy nation with quite a few natural sources, its people had been deficient because of visionless leadership and improper financial insurance policies.

Addressing a gathering here after laying the foundation stone for the expansion of NH 4 between Hubballi and Chitradurga into six lanes, Gadkari stated that the country suffered because of lack of right kind roads, clinic, faculty and elementary facilities. “Leaders like Nehru, who gave the slogan of ‘Gareebi Hatao’, did not remove poverty but kept their circle of relatives in politics forever. No Dailt and Muslim or any person could beat poverty. However, simplest Congressmen beat poverty and become richer previously remaining 50-60 years,” he stated.

Responding to the demand for flyover in Hubballi made via MP Pralhad Joshi, Gadkari stated he asked to publish an offer of Rs 300 crore. “I was shocked to obtain an offer from the state govt tough Rs 1,300 crore (for the project). I have asked the state govt to reduce it to Rs 600-700 crore. If I am getting it, I will sanction it at the earliest and consult with Hubballi to lay the foundation stone for the flyover project,” he confident.
