Electricity connections of nine illegal textile units disconnected

Tirupur: The district management disconnected electrical energy connections to 9 unauthorised textile printing devices here on Monday.

The officials of the Tamil Nadu air pollution regulate board (TNPCB), who had inspected the devices that were performing at KVR Nagar, Anupparpalayam and Boyampalayam, had found them missing the mandatory environmental clearance license from the board.


“The devices were having reasonable capability of discharging printing liquid waste of 500-1000 litres. But, they had no longer established effluent treatment vegetation or mechanisms to make sure zero liquid discharge (ZLD) norm. They were found dumping liquid waste in the open floor and in ditches,” said a senior TNPCB reputable.


After TNPCB really useful action towards the devices, the district co-ordination committee on unauthorised production/processing devices led by the collector directed the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation to disconnect power. tnn
