ITANAGAR: A mysterious object with Chinese writing on it's been present in Kamle district of Arunachal Pradesh, about 100 km within the Indian territory, police said on Saturday.
A couple of villagers stumbled upon a in part burnt white field, wrapped in a cloth-like material with Chinese writing on it, on Wednesday last. It was found caught in a tree, Superintendent of Police of Kamle, John Pada, advised PTI on the phone.
The SP, Range Forest Officer Bunty Tao and a few officers trekked for 5 hours to Repari village, located at a top of three,642 feet, to retrieve the article after woodcutters knowledgeable them about it.
The field spread out on hitting the tree and the black device within was visible. The lower compartment most definitely contained a battery to power the device during flight, he said.
It had a powdered substance attached to wires, the SP said, adding it could be a meteorological equipment.
Director General of Police Sandeep Goel said they had been looking to ascertain what the article was.
