COIMBATORE: While the city corporation is gearing as much as propose the finances for 2018-2019, a bunch of citizens have started a first-of-its-kind social media campaign to determine if the civic frame has fulfilled its previous guarantees. They plan to consult with various places in the city to determine if the projects introduced in the final finances were implemented.
It was started to sensitise the general public, the mastermind at the back of the pressure Saravanan Chandrashekar of Canopy Nature Academy instructed TOI. “We all the time breakdown and discuss in regards to the Union finances and the state finances. But, nobody takes the corporation finances critically despite the fact that it is the most important one for denizens. It is our duty to determine if the projects proposed in our areas materialise,” he stated.

The staff, comprising just about 50 citizens from various walks of life, will meet again to discuss the projects discussed in the final finances. “We will invite representatives from faculties, residential communities and corporates for the dialogue,” Saravanan stated.

RTI activist SP Thiyagarajan stated that many parks proposed in the final finances have no longer been set up yet.

“Nearly Rs 9 crore was allotted beneath the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Amrut) scheme of the Central govt for building of 11 parks in the city. But, all parks were passed over to the corporates. If corporates are keeping up the parks, then what happened to the Central govt fund? Was it utilised or given again? We should ask these types of inquiries to our officers,” he stated.


Others in the staff stated that they are in darkish in regards to the standing of various civic works. For example, greater than Rs 2 crore was allotted for the advance of city lakes. They plan to seek the experience of volunteers from various fields to test the works. “We hope this dialogue will proceed and industry associations will even join us,” Saravanan added.
