Police team heads to West Bengal to probe Tirupur girl’s ‘death’

TIRUPUR: A four-member police team from Avinashi here has been sent to West Bengal to probe the ‘demise’ of a 19-year-old girl from Attayampalayam who eloped with a Bengali in 2016 and migrated to Bangladesh, the place she allegedly died of some sickness after present process an abortion.
According to police, Poorna Devi, daughter of U Muruganandham and Selva Gomathi of Attayampalayam, fell in love with Rimu Sheikh of South 24 Parganas district in West Bengal while the duo was operating in a garment production unit in Tirupur.

In July 2016, Poorna eloped with Sheikh. Poorna was best 17 when she ran away with him. Her oldsters had lodged a woman lacking criticism with the Avinashi police, however they had to withdraw it later when Poorna instructed them that she had married Sheikh on her own will after she became 18.

“Last week, we forwarded a file submitted by way of the SP to the commissionerate of rehabilitation and welfare of non-resident Tamils, which is in touch with Bangladesh embassy,” stated a senior earnings respectable.
