NOIDA: A case has been registered against the DND Flyway control for illegally pruning a number of trees to support the visibility of hoardings alongside the stretch.
The district wooded area department carried out an inspection after an activist filed a criticism throughout the portal of built-in criticism redress machine (IGRS), referring to largescale pruning. However, Goyal filed a record in November 2017, announcing he carried out an inspection and found there was no pruning of trees.
"We have told residents in the neighbouring residential societies to get prior permission from the forest department in case of pruning of trees, as per the law," Goyal's record mentioned. The wooded area department forwarded this report back to the UP government.
However, Tongad mentioned he was no longer satisfied with Goyal's record as there is not any residential society alongside the DND Flyway. "I filed another complaint against this report. The official had filed its report without personal inspection of the spot," Tongad mentioned. The wooded area department initiated an inquiry which revealed that there was in reality pruning of a few trees and Goyal had filed a false record. Goyal was later suspended.
The department despatched any other crew headed through beat officer Nidhi Bharadwaj to habits a recent inspection. On January 12, the inspection crew found that the DND Flyway operator had illegally trimmed a number of trees to regulate visibility of the hoardings at a number of locations.
"The inspection team found a total of 46 trees - Neem, Peepal, Pilkhan, Arjun - were trimmed. This is a violation of the Uttar Pradesh Protection of Trees in Rural and Hill Areas Act, 1976," Bharadwaj mentioned in a criticism replica.
The DND Flyway officers weren't available for a remark at the factor.
