Communities should unite to stop atrocities on dalits: Union minister

Coimbatore: All communities must come together and conduct discussions to check the increasing attacks on dalits and adivasis, Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment Ramdas Athawale said here on Saturday.
“Atrocities in opposition to dalits and adivasis happen in all states without reference to which party is ruling. This can also be solved best via making all communities take a seat together and talk slightly than politicising the issue,” Athawale advised TOI.

The minister was once in the town to handle a convention on ‘Thoughts of Dr B R Ambedkar and its Relevance to Contemporary Society’ held on the Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women.

He requested the scholars of the institute to marry out of their caste, which was once the one technique to get rid of caste from the society.

When requested about the issue of honour killings, Athawale advised TOI that about 50,000 inter-caste marriages happen in the nation once a year. “Honour killings happen best in some circumstances. Those going through such a situation must be given police protection,” he said.

Earlier in his deal with, Athawale said crucial contribution of Ambedkar was once to put emphasis on fundamental rights as a way to give protection to and empower the minorities. He added that best after achieving social justice, economic and developmental objectives can also be achieved.

Speaking about BJP’s victory in Tripura and Nagaland, Athawale said the victory was once ancient and proved the environment friendly management of Narendra Modi. “It is an indication that the NDA will win the 2019 Lok Sabha election,” he said.

Speaking at a press convention in some other a part of the city, Athawale said TTV Dhinakaran must join the EPS-OPS camp and change into a minister.

“Dhinakaran, along side EPS-OPS camp, must come ahead to reinforce NDA in the 2019 Lok Sabha election. Only then AIADMK would have the ability to absolutely enforce late chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s policies,” he added.
