GURUGRAM: Long waits and common visitors snarls at Genpact Chowk on Golf Course Road are nonetheless giving a tricky time to commuters as Huda has no longer yet thrown open the newly constructed underpass at the busy junction. The reason why — absence of a cost-sharing agreement with real property large DLF.
The underpass, constructed at a cost of Rs 48 crore, is part of the 16-lane signal-free DLF-Huda throughway. Six different underpasses in this high-speed corridor are already useful. The Genpact Chowk underpass, which was included into the throughway undertaking at a latter stage, was completed six months again.
Huda officials said that the cost-sharing agreement with DLF can be signed on Thursday.
“The pact was meant to be inked on Wednesday, but the DLF executive concerned was no longer to be had. So, optimistically the agreement will be signed on Thursday. And in a week or two, the underpass will be opened for visitors,” Huda administrator Chander Shekhar Khare instructed TOI.
“The agreement will pave the way for of entirety of the throughway undertaking, which was below construction for the past 5 years,” he added.
The Rs 595 crore throughway undertaking was carried out on charge sharing (50:50) between Huda and DLF. With the new agreement, Huda should pay Rs 24 crore to DLF for the Genpact Chowk underpass.
The undertaking received in-principal approval from the Haryana govt in 2008. Huda and DLF signed an agreement in September 2011 to construct the throughway on cost-sharing foundation. Finally, work started in June 2012 and was expected to be completed in June 2015.
But work was not on time because of several reasons — litigations, land issues, removal of obstacles and addition of positive components just like the underpass at Genpact Chowk at later stage. The time limit of the undertaking has been prolonged 5 times and the current time limit is June 2018.
The 16-lane street covering 8.three km from NH-8 toll plaza near Ambience Mall to Sector 55-56 was constructed to ease heavy visitors drift in the city. The signal-free street is expected to reduce visitors time from Delhi border to Golf Course Road and adjoining spaces. The street is expected to profit about 1.five million residents and commuters from out of doors Gurugram who work in the city that homes many multi-national companies.
“Finally we can get aid from congestion. With the outlet of the underpass, our trip time will be lowered considerably,” said Anoop Mishra, a resident of Sector 56.
